An Interview With Jai Hogben

Tell us what you do for a living.

I am the Procurement Director at The Change Organisation

Why are you the right person for this job?

Since an early age I have been fascinated with business and I was lucky enough to have had the opportunity to listen to many different types of business people, some incredibly successful & some not. But all of them self made.  I have never forgotten a word any of them said and this valuable early insight to business coupled with my drive and entrepreneurship gives me a unique skill set perfect for the industry we are in.

What gets you up in the morning?

The excitement of a new day of unknown challenges & my mantra “positive, positive, positive” which I say to myself every morning!

Who helped you get to where you are today?

My two best friends, hard work & dedication…..  !

What is the best or worst business advice you have received?

My dad was a big influence on me with regards to business, he started his own business at 17 and had built up a little empire by his late 20’s, from an early age I knew there was a lot to learn from him and he always had little snippets of entrepreneurial advice or habits I would store away in the back of my head & try to adopt. But they are family secrets so I can only share with my son J

What advice would you give to someone starting out today in IT?

Don’t give up!

What’s running on your smartphone?

Emails, Sonos and Ringo!

What is the best book you’ve ever read?

I read like an animal, at least one book a week so its hard to pick one out but one that has always stuck in my head is David Gemmell’s Troy trilogy.

And the best film you’ve ever seen?

What would be your Desert Island MP3s?

Does taking my Sono’s system count?

What temptation can you not resist?

A Deal! And a good red wine….

What was your first car and how does it compare with what you drive now?

Ford Fiesta

I now drive a Mercedes E Class Coupe that goes like the wind!

If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why?

A Dolphin, so I could find out if they are as intelligent as everyone suspects, plus it would be really fun to do some flips in the sea….

If you could take part in one event in the Olympics, which would you choose and why

Can I be a commentator? Watching the Olympics seems a lot more enjoyable than taking part!

If you were facing awesome peril and impossible odds, which real or fictional person would you most want on your side and why?

Lee Evans, to introduce some humour into the situation!

Who was the last person you hugged and why?

My beautiful fiancé Karina because I Love her.

Have you ever met anyone famous, if so how?, if not who would you like to meet?

Met a few people over the years when I was in the Auctions business, its not as exciting as people think, they are just normal people like us with different jobs. Although I did squeak a bit when I met Thierry Henry in Groucho a few years back… but he is not normal, he is a living legend….
