December sees the first notable volume delivery of HP Gen9 Servers and Gen9 and Gen10 LTO Storage into The Change Organisation’s stock. But what does this new generation of technology bring to the market.
The Gen9 portfolio dramatically increases capacity and efficiency, the speed of IT service delivery and application performance in the datacentre. Key areas growing in influence, such as Cloud computing, social media and mobility are all catered for by the HP Proliant Gen 9 Servers, providing scalable and dynamic datacentres that are less complex and, as a result, more cost effective. HP Proliant Gen9 Servers are optimised for convergence, cloud and software defined environments and feature new technology innovations, such as PCIe accelerators and DDR4 memory.
Gen9 and Gen10 LTO Storage
LTO storage has long been thought of as a technology on the way out, but clearly its time is not nigh with the announcement from HP of Gen9 and Gen10 LTO Ultrium tape technology. The Gen 9 LTO Ultrium provides up to 62.5TB capacity per cartridge while the Gen10 LTO Ultrium provides up to 120GB capacity per cartridge. Transfer rates are also up by a whopping 600% with 1770MB per second for Gen9 and 2750MB per second for Gen10.
