An Interview With Geoff Austen

Tell us what you do for a living.

I am a sales consultant here at The Change Organisation

Why are you the right person for this job?

Because I have good sales skills, I work hard and I’m hungry for success.

What gets you up in the morning?

My alarm and the fact I have responsibilities, who wants to stay in bed all day!

Who helped you get to where you are today?

Definitely my dad, he bought me up really well under difficult circumstances. Other than that it’s my two beautiful children, who make me strive to want to improve as I want them to be proud of me.

What is the best or worst business advice you have received?

The best Business advice I have ever had was to leave my last job after 8 years and apply here. The worst was being told I should stay as the grass wouldn’t be greener.

What advice would you give to someone starting out today in IT?

Go big or go home.

What’s running on your smartphone?

Clash of the clans, PKR Poker and Facebook

Tell us something most people do not know about you?

That I sadly lost my mum to Cancer when I was 10.

What goal do you have to achieve before you die, and why?

I want to remain a big part of my children’s lives as they grow up, I want to feel I have achieved all I can in a professional capacity. I want to have no regrets!

What is the best book you’ve ever read?

I’m not really a bookworm to be fair, but I did have this Greek Myths and Legends book when I was young and that used to really capture my imagination.

And the best film you’ve ever seen?

That’s a really tough one, if it’s ever I’d have to say Pulp fiction but of recent years Wolf of Wall Street and Batman The Dark Knight is in the mix too. Sorry that’s not really an answer!

What would be your Desert Island MP3s?

Arctic monkey’s, Oasis, Kings of Leon, DR Dre, Eminem, The Kooks, Ministry of sound compilations. It’d be a real mixed bag.

What temptation can you not resist?

I’m a sucker for a few games on FIFA.

What was your first car and how does it compare with what you drive now?

I have a Ford Mondeo Ghia 2.0L TDCI and I’m still driving it. I was a bit late to the party and only passed my test in September 2014.

If you could be any animal for a day, what would you be and why?

This is a tough one but if it was just for the day it would have to be a golden eagle as it would be great to see the world from their perspective through there eye’s, it would be like looking at the world in super high definition.

If you could take part in one event in the Olympics, which would you choose and why?

It would have to be the men’s gymnastics, as I’d be in fantastic shape and be able to do flips. Loads of party tricks to impress people with!

If you were facing awesome peril and impossible odds, which real or fictional person would you most want on your side and why?

That’s an easy one “Superman”

Who was the last person you hugged and why?

I want to say my kids but I’m pretty sure I man hugged Nathan Sills this week.

Have you ever met anyone famous, if so how?, if not who would you like to meet?

When I was 10 years old the Queen came down to Ramsgate Port and the local primary schools went to see. She went down the line of kids and I actually got a little hand shake from her. Being 22 years ago it feels surreal now!
